What are the Electronic Media Awards (EMA)?
The Electronic Media Awards honor excellence in website design and development, video, Flash, and other digital media. The EMA recognizes particpants for their outstanding achievement, innovation and attention to detail, and represents that you are among the best of the best in digital communications. The annual international awards competition is open to individuals and organizations involved in the development of Websites, Video, Flash, Video Games, and other Interactive Multimedia on the Internet. Why should I enter the EMA?
Honor. Prestige. Bragging Rights. Increased Value and Marketability. There are countless benefits to winning an Electronic Media Award. As one example, winners automatically receive the EMA Award Icon, which can be placed on the winning website or digital work and links to a unique and marketable award page (or award gallery, if entrant has won multiple awards) on our website. Winners also will receive one EMA Winners Certificate per winning entry, ready for framing in a standard 8.5" x 11" frame and customized with the winning project's information (additional copies may be purchased if needed).
EMA winners are also eligible to order an optional Prixm Award Trophy (pictured at right) custom engraved with the winning entry's information.
Which category should I enter?
Select from the list of categories at right those that are most relevant to the electronic media you are nominating. You can select up to three categories per entry (a separate entry fee applies for each category). The sidebar at right contains a full list of categories.
What is the deadline to enter the competition?
The EMA competition is ongoing now until the December 31, 2010 entry deadline.
Can I make changes to my entry after it has been submitted?
No. Once an entry has been submitted and your credit card has been charged, the entry is final and "as-is" while your entry is being judged and the competition is happening.
Who is eligible to enter the EMA competition?
The competition is open to individuals and organizations involved in designing, developing, managing, supporting and promoting Websites, Video, Flash, Video Games, and other interactive or digital media. Nominators must have the appropriate consent and authorization to nominate a site and nominators must be at least 18 years of age.
What types of content are ineligible to enter?
Entries can be declared ineligible for various reasons, including inappropriate or explicit content, use of unoriginal or copyrighted materials, offensive or otherwise distasteful subject matter. For more information, please see the Competition Rules.
Is the EMA competition open to people outside of the United States?
Yes. the EMA competition is international and open to all entrants from around the world.
Do you accept entries in languages other than English?
Yes. We accept entries in many languages.
Can I enter more than one category?
Yes, if the categories selected are relevant to the electronic media entered, each work can be entered in up to three categories at a time.
What forms of payment are acceptable to pay the entry fee?
We accept major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express), checks and PayPal.
How do you judge my entry?
Entries are judged according to ten criteria: Design, Content, Functionality, Usability, Innovation, Attention to Detail, Technical Difficulty, Impact, Message/Branding and Standards Compliance/Cross-Browser Compatibility. How long does the judging process take?
Winners will be notified by email one week prior to the general announcement of EMA winners tentatively set for January-February, 2011.
Who are the EMA judges?
EMA judges are creative professionals and members of the Electronic Media Commission (EMC), a professional organization of leading digital artisans in Internet and electronic media industries. EMA judges are leaders in web and interactive media, advertising, public relations, programming, video production and other creative industries.
How much does it cost to enter the EMA competition?
US$125 per category. Entries in the Student/Education Project category are eligible to pay a US$45.00 entry fee available to students or teachers only.
Is my entry fee refundable?
Entry fees are nonrefundable, except when a language barrier prevents us from judging your website or electronic media.
Can my entry be disqualified?
Yes. Entries can be declared ineligible for various reasons, including inappropriate or explicit content, use of unoriginal or copyrighted materials, offensive or otherwise distasteful subject matter. Any violation of our Competition Rules or Terms of Use can lead to a disqualification of a nomination and the removal of a winners awards and awards pages with no refund of entry fees. Who organizes the EMA competition?
The EMA competition was founded and is managed by the Electronic Media Commission (EMC), an organization of leading digital media professionals. EMC established the competition in an effort to recognize excellence on the Internet and offer talented web professionals and digital artisans a forum to increase marketing exposure and promote their work. EMC is the primary competition sponsor and governing commission of the awards program, sets the judging criteria and provides the competition rules, judges and awards for the annual event.
